Join us for a guided nature and forest therapy walk through Coldwater Spring. Located just north of Fort Snelling at Bdote and south of Minnehaha Falls, Coldwater Spring features an ancient freshwater spring, oak savanna, wetlands, bluff-top prairie, and woods. Long-considered the origin place of the Dakota people, this sacred land and water is presently managed and tended by the Mississippi National River Recreation Area and Friends of Coldwater Spring. During the walk, participants will be guided through a Shinrin-Yoku (“forest bathing”) practice by Travis Norman, Guide-in-Practicum with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs.
Please note:
*To register for this FREE walk, indicate the number of people attending, regardless of age, in the “Children Ages 4 & Under – FREE” section of the registration form. Please then indicate the names (and ages, if under 18) of each attendee in your party.
*We recommend participants arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of our walk and plan to stay through the scheduled duration. Due to the guided nature of Shinrin Yoku, we are unable to accommodate latecomers.
*There are no restrooms on-site. The closest facility is a port-a-potty located at the intersection of 54th Street and Minnehaha Park Drive S., about half a mile north of Coldwater Spring. Please plan accordingly.
*The walk will continue rain or shine, except in cases of severe weather. More information will be provided in a registration confirmation letter.
*Metered parking ($1/hour – credit cards, quarters, or ParkMobile App only) is available on Minnehaha Park Drive South. Free, accessible parking is available on-site for those with designated vehicle placards.
*Be sure to review the National Park Service’s Visitor Guidelines before arrival.
