The property is immaculately maintained, offering both comfort (great linens and beds) and thoughtful touches (pitchers of filter water in bedrooms, hostess basket, stocked wood stove) . Modern amenities, beautiful settings , and opportunities to take in the peace only nature bathing brings. An exceptional escape , yet close enough to local attractions of state parks, lakes, concert venues. Our stay was short but long enough for us to know we yearn another booking here for longer stay .   This was my second magical stay at Silvae Spiritus. I was celebrating a big birthday with friends, so we rented both the Tiny House and the main Guest Suite. Three... read more friends slept in each, each with her own comfy bed, and we cooked and ate in the main Guest Suite. The place is incredibly peaceful and dark enough at night to see the stars. We enjoyed walking in the woods, lunching outside in the garden, napping in the hammocks, and experiencing the unforgettable add-ons: a luxurious wood-fired sauna session with cold plunge and hot tub at dusk. As ever, Leigha and Travis were incredibly gracious hosts, making sure to swap out down bedding for one friend with an allergy and sharing a cup of tea with me before everyone arrived. The only quibble was that the kitchen felt a bit run down, with a broken dishwasher and a hodgepodge of cookware and tableware that wasn’t great for all the cooking we did. A renovation is in the offing, Leigha noted, which is sure to make it even more magical.

Leigha and Travis have curated a space for respite where I enjoyed solo time, but know that sharing time with family or friends on this land would be pure gold. Get there if you can!

The lodging was spacious and beautifully decorated, with... read more comfortable furnishings and incredible views of nature out every window. The kitchen was well equipped and stocked with thoughtful treats like oatmeal, popcorn, tea, coffee, filtered water, and protein snacks, plus a bespoke little s'mores kit. Thoughtful touches abound: slippers, a record player, guitar, and puzzles on the main floor, cedar aromatherapy misters and robes and water carafes in each bedroom, a Tushy bidet in the bathroom, and a cozy sitting/sleeping/movi nook upstairs. I enjoyed feeding the wood stove in the mornings and evenings and taking a swim each day in the ginormous jetted tub. For an additional fee, I added (and highly recommend) a forest bathing session with Leigha and a wood-fired sauna/cold plunge session with Travis. Positively magical!

The lighting was super cozy and warm. The turntable and records with a glowing salt lamp made for an enchanted living room. The instructions were clear and organized with all the essentials for making a fire, with several options of fire pits to choose from. There was a guitar and a game drawer.
Beautiful walking trails that are marked well. The dog and cats were cute and friendly.
You must also take a sauna and cold plunge. It is glorious! An oasis in the woods with mints and electrolytes to refresh you after. I will be back!

There are not a lot of restaurants/places to eat around (as is explained in communications and the check-in book), but everything you need in the kitchen. The property has some lovely walking paths, and there's nice hiking at Banning State Park nearby. Tip: The radiators are a bit noisy, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The bedroom with the balcony has a window blackout curtain, but some light does come through the balcony curtains, so an eye mask is also good to bring.

Mosquito tip: The hosts already mentioned this so we knew to be prepared. If going in the summer and you like to avoid deet, bring a bug suit or hat just in case. The bug suits were extra helpful for the forest bathing experience and one of us wore the head part during the cold plunge and that was helpful. There were also times we walked around and the mosquitos didn’t care.
