OUR APPROACH TO SOUND IMMERSION

Meditative sound immersion is an exploration of the resonance between your inner nature and the natural world you are a part of, between your mental and physical well-being, between personal and collective growth.  These sessions offer an opportunity to welcome ourselves back into the home we call the present moment – for in true listening there is only the now.  As serene audio and subtle instrumentation guide us toward a restorative state of deep simplicity and complete relaxation, participants often find their personal awareness and are able to expand as the soundscape continually shifts and evolves, simply by allowing their own thoughts and emotions the freedom and spaciousness to rise and fall in their natural state, without agenda and without judgment.

This invitation to temporarily de-center from the overactive chatter and ego narratives that drive our day-to-day functioning can enable our inner voice to speak with greater ease and insight.  Released from distraction, we are beckoned back into relationship with our whole selves, our authentic selves, and the vast potential that exists for each one of us when we honor that authenticity.

Untethered from anxiety, our mental and physical systems come gratefully back into equilibrium and are able to function at their peak potential.  This is in fact the core concept that motivates my approach to sound therapy: any healing to be found will emanate directly from your own personal strength – your intuition and intention coupled with your body’s innate ability to reach for the balance it needs.

Concurrently, if there is to be any transformative “magic” it will surely be conjured in a manner of co-creation, as opposed to deriving from any special variable that I alone might bring to the equation.  Rather it is together, in harmony, that we will experience the unfolding – melting away tension and stress, bathing in the medicine of frequency and vibration, adrift on gentle waves of introspection, connection, and an easeful release from the many to-do lists and seemingly endless array of outside influences which compete for our attention.

ABOUT YOUR GUIDE

I’ll be drawing on my history of live electronic music performance to generate a full-spectrum ambient audio immersion utilizing generative, composed, and improvisational techniques while interweaving the acoustic energy of melodic drums, crystal singing bowls, chimes, bells, tuning forks, and percussion to further craft our journey. I’ll be seeking a holistic nourishment of body + mind + heart, one that can rejuvenate the core vitality we all hold as humans.  My hope will be for participants to leave enlivened with a physiological refreshment, a mental clarity, an emotional optimism, and a passion for possibility that can serve as a strong foundation for engaging ever more deeply with the world around us.

Sincerely in sound,

WHAT TO EXPECT

Sessions run for 90 minutes: 70 minutes of immersive sound, book-ended by sufficient time to both thoroughly settle in beforehand and to languish in an unhurried reentry across the threshold leading back to standard consciousness afterward. Aromatherapy and soothing light displays add to the ambience.  All are encouraged to get as comfortable as possible – loungers, pillows, blankets and mats are readily available (though if you have a favorite of your own please feel free to bring it!). Some guests choose to wear eye masks for the duration of the session, some folks actively journal, some gently stretch and sway while others revel in motionlessness.

HEALTH BENEFITS

It is an exciting time to be learning about the many benefits this type of experience can provide, as new research continually confirms how good for us this type of stress relief can be.  While in no way a replacement for medication or therapy with a licensed mental health provider when treating anxiety or depression, many participants emerge from these sessions pleasantly energized and coherent in mind, body, and heart.  For example, one study found significant reductions in negative mood and increases in positive mood for all participants.  Another study found lowered tension, fatigue, and depression alongside reported feelings of spiritual well-being.  It is no exaggeration to say that we live in a world made of vibration; exploring that world is both an ancient aspect of the human experience as well as a fascinating frontier in our fundamental understanding of reality – let’s discover all that it has to offer!

“It’s common to believe that life is a series of external experiences. And that we must live an outwardly extraordinary life in order to have something to share. The experience of our inner world is often completely overlooked. If we focus on what’s going on inside ourselves – sensations, emotions, the pattern of our thoughts – a wealth of material can be found. Our inner world is every bit as interesting, beautiful, and surprising as nature itself. It is, after all, born of nature.”
