Join us for a guided nature and forest therapy walk through the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary. Located in Theodore Wirth Park, the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary features oak savanna, wetland, open prairie, and upland hardwood forest. The oldest public wildflower garden in the United States, the garden sanctuary is presently owned, managed, and tended by the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, with additional support from the Friends of the Wildflower Garden. During the walk, participants will be guided through a Shinrin-Yoku (“forest bathing”) practice by Leigha Horton, Guide-in-Practicum with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs.
Please note:
*We recommend participants arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of our walk and plan to stay through the scheduled duration. Due to the guided nature of Shinrin Yoku, we are unable to accommodate late admittance (however, we do provide a five minute grace period after the scheduled start time).
*There are restrooms (an outbuilding with latrines and running water for hand-washing), as well as a drinking-fountain on-site.
*The walk will continue rain or shine, except in cases of severe weather. More information will be provided in a registration confirmation letter.
*Metered parking ($1/hour or $4/day – credit cards, quarters, or ParkMobile App only) is available just outside the front gate to the Garden.
