SUMMARY:Nourish 05: A Community Land-Tending Day
DESCRIPTION:A woodland workout with friends awaits! This autumn’s projects will include firewood splitting\, stacking\, and storing; gathering kindling on “stick walks”; creating wildlife habitat piles from deadfall; trail and fire-pit tending; and other projects that make themselves apparent. If you have loppers\, chainsaws\, reciprocating saws\, axes\, or other tools you think would be helpful\, bring them along! We will have some tools to share use of\, as well as some work gloves and goggles – if you have your own\, even better! We recommend sturdy\, close-toed shoes or boots\, and sturdy work clothes that could get snagged on brambles and still protect you from scratches. \nNourish events are always free\, and are followed by hot dinner and a sauna session (with adjacent bonfire for those choosing to not partake in the thermic cycle). Registration required for all participants. Donations toward operating costs are gratefully accepted\, but never expected.

SUMMARY:Full Moon Forest Bathing @ Dodge Nature Center
DESCRIPTION:Join Leigha Horton of Silvae Spiritus Northwoods Nature Retreat\, certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs\, for a guided forest bathing experience under the full Hunter’s Moon!  \nForest bathing is a slow-moving\, deeply sensory\, mindful and “bodyful” walk in nature that has shown to result in measurable physiological\, cognitive\, and emotional benefits. Much like walking meditation or yoga\, these activities can be practiced on one’s own\, almost anywhere\, and yet the benefits greatly increase with regular practice. Forest bathing is significantly more immersive when facilitated by properly trained and certified guides—you’ll be guided by an expert through this program!   \nOver the course of this walk\, you will be given a series of invitations and suggested ways to connect to your natural surroundings. This experience will be mostly silent except for optional light sharing of reflections between invitations\, honors each participant’s autonomy\, and radiates in and out from a central bonfire.  The walk concludes with tea. \nAdvanced registration via Dodge Nature Center required.
